Lip Balm

So, we’re still trying to perfect the recipe for our lip balm, but I really wanted to share pictures. Creating these recipes is always trial and error, sometimes they work the first time and other times you have to add or take away ingredients.

*This recipe turned out too soft and pretty much just melts when you put it on. All in all, it’s not a bad recipe though.*

2 tbsp Coconut Oil
2 tbsp Shea Butter
2 tbsp Beeswax (shredded)
1 Vitamin E Capsule
Essential Oil of your choice
Empty Lip Balm containers

1) Shred the beeswax, using a cheese  grater or something similar.

2) Melt coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax in a pot on the stove. Then, poke a hole in the vitamin E capsule and squeeze into the pot. Finally, add the essential oils (variations and ideas further down).

3) Working quickly, but carefully IT’S HOT, add liquid to lip balm containers. We usually pour it through a funnel. You could also use a dropper, but make sure to use glass, the plastic ones will melt (TRUST ME).

4) The liquid will cool and solidify pretty quickly. You can put the pot back on the stove to re-melt it, if it solidifies too much before pouring it into the containers.

5) Top off containers as needed

Flavor Variations:

Candy Cane Kiss – 20 drops of Peppermint Oil
Autumn Bliss – 4 drops Cinnamon Bark Oil or Cassia Oil, 2 drops Clove Oil and 2 drops Nutmeg
Floral Fields – 2 drops Jasmine, 2 drops Litsea and 2 drops Lavender

*We will continue to update this post as we try new recipes and post a final recipe once we find it. If you have any ideas for a recipe or flavor variation feel free to send us a message on Facebook.*
